  • Team Hoyt: Dick and Rick

    三項鐵人賽分馬拉松,游泳和單車.可以話係非常唔容易
    但係呢個爸爸, 為了兒子, 參加了229次三項鐵人, 84次半馬拉松, 66次馬拉松, 26次波士頓馬拉松,212次10公里賽,108次5公里,8次15公里,4次8公里,2次11公里...共984項賽事.

    Rick一出前就大腦癱瘓,成為植物人.不過dick和妻子沒有放棄他.
    父母對兒子既愛令我諗起神既愛:)

  • What does the Bible say about luck?

    The American Heritage Dictionary defines “luck” as follows:

    1. The chance happening of fortunate or adverse events. 2. Good fortune or prosperity; success....to gain success or something desirable by chance: ‘I lucked out in finding that rare book.’

    A runner in a race may be the swiftest, but because someone in front of him stumbles, he trips over him and falls and does not win the race. How unlucky for him? Or a warrior king may have the strongest army but some “chance” arrow shot up into the air at random by a no-name enemy soldier just happens to pierce his armor in its most vulnerable location (2 Chronicles 18:33) resulting in that king’s death and the loss of the battle. How unlucky for King Ahab? Was it a matter of luck? Reading the whole of 2 Chronicles 18, we find that God had His hand in the matter from the beginning. The soldier who shot the arrow was totally unaware of its outcome, but God in His sovereignty knew all along it would mean the death of wicked king Ahab.

    A similar “chance” occurrence takes place in the Book of Ruth. Ruth, a widow who was caring for her widowed mother-in-law, seeks a field to glean grain to provide for them. “So she went out and began to glean in the fields behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelech” (Ruth 2:3). Elimelech had been the husband of her mother-in-law, Naomi, so Boaz was a relative of hers and was generous to Ruth. As Ruth returns home with a great deal more grain than Naomi expected, and “Her mother-in-law asked her, ‘Where did you glean today? Where did you work? Blessed be the man who took notice of you!’ Then Ruth told her mother-in-law about the one at whose place she had been working. ‘The name of the man I worked with today is Boaz,’ she said. ‘The LORD bless him!’ Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. ‘He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead.’ She added, ‘That man is our close relative; he is one of our kinsman-redeemers.’" (Ruth 2:19-20).   • Interesting1-Christian fish???

    耶穌魚（ΙΧΘΥΣ）是基督教的一個代表符號，最早是基督教為了躲避羅馬帝國宗教迫害而使用的暗號，隨著米蘭敕令的發佈，基督教得以合法化，此符號也因其歷史意義而成為基督教的代表符號之一。

    此符號為魚形，在希臘語中「魚」稱為「ΙΧΘΥΣ」，對基督徒而言這個字恰好可由5個詞彙的字首組成，象徵著基督教的信仰核心：

    字首代表字意義
    ΙΙΗΣΟΥΣ耶穌
    ΧΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ基督
    ΘΘΕΟΥ神的
    ΥΥΙΟΣ兒子
    ΣΣΩΤΗΡ救世主

    當時基督徒藉由此符號來確認彼此的身份，例如先隨意畫出其中一條弧線，若對方亦為基督徒，則對方應會在心照不宣的情況下完成符號的另一半。

  • 得著真正的平安 黃智賢

    以往的他常想自己演繹的角色是否討好？自己接拍的戲是否合適？

    如今的他不再憂慮，因為他找到真正的平安與穩妥，清晰的知道自己只管努力去演，其他的事交託就可以了。


    在電視螢幕上，由最初的兒童節目《閃電傳真機》當主持，到經典家庭電視劇《真情》飾演阿海，直到往後很多的劇集，黃智賢都非常投入地演出。不過，令他印象最深刻的是《世紀之戰》中扮演無神論者，因為這角色引發他思考信仰的問題。

    拍攝《世紀之戰》的時候，智賢並沒有宗教信仰。他在劇集中飾演一位無神論者兼股票市場的狙擊手，相信人的能力可以控制全世界，其中一句令智賢感到震撼的對白是：你以為自己是無神論者，其實你當了自己是神，劇中的人物最終失敗。

    反思誰控制生死
    這故事讓智賢深深明白到人不可控制一切，他感慨地說：「無論在劇情上或實際上，任憑人有多厲害，也不能夠控制金融風暴、金融海嘯，即使撇除股票市場那些的身外物，連我們的健康，甚至生老病死，自己也掌握不到，世上究竟有誰掌管呢？」。

    回想自己信主的經歷，智賢稱，當時身邊有一位抑鬱症的朋友，而他自問性格樂觀，於是嘗試去幫助那位朋友。他形容抑鬱症就好像漩渦般，你越是伸手把他拉上來，他就越往下沉。

    智賢曾想過放棄那位朋友，但心裡卻不捨，後來，那位朋友被帶到教會去，他慢慢地開始改變，臉上重現笑容，充滿喜樂，結果從抑鬱病中康復過來，這令智賢開始去想：這個世界果真有一位全能者。

    打從心底的喜樂
    智賢反省，「情緒的失控絕對不是錢可以解決，不是你擁有多少財富就可以免疫，而正正因為友人患上這個病，我看多了有關情緒的書，發現原來還有很多不同種類的情緒病，愈是文明的社會愈多人有情緒病，而基督教所講的喜樂就是來自心裡的平安，那份的喜樂像是築在盤石上，相當穩妥。」

    智賢明白到，從神而來才有真正平安，「我細心問自己，難道這只是抑鬱病人所需要的嗎？」人之所以抑鬱是因爲心裡沒有真正的歡喜快樂，其實他自己也很需要，從那時開始，他立志要去認識這位主。

  • Melb

    Hmm, overall melb is not a bad place to visit. Just not as exciting as WA i guess (probably i know perth much better than melb:))..haha
    Went with mum to Phillip Island, Maze, Observation Deck, City Centre, Casino n Puffing Billy Steam Train....:)
    Dont really know what to do ard Perth yet..But I really like Perth (dont feel that much until im about to leave..ha) will upload photos in FB:)

  • More concern??

    70% final exam tmr...
    Spent less than a day to study, well, only a few hours actually..hahha
    Not nervous at all though..although there is so much to recite now..haha...
    Should i be more concern abt tmr exam??haha..

    Lord, i pray that we would find favour in ur eyes. Help us to stand firm n stay focus on u.
    Teach us your ways for u are the reasons that we live, we give and we sing.

  • Plans

    Spent 2 hours online looking for jobs...while i supposed to study for sport phy..haha..
    Sis told me if i wanted to work for the government, I have to sit for the basic law exam...which is on Oct..what should i do before that then???
    Well, u know me, being extreme overorganised, started planning n looking for jobs(part time)...
    At first, i was looking for research assistant, clinical assistant etc..which would probably help before i have a full time job. Then i started looking at baker, dessert makers, welfare worker, cinema attendant...haha...it would be fun to learn how to bake cake n bread:)

    So the plan is 
    July09 - Oct2009 
    Part time - baker???

    Nov09 - Nov2012 
    Full time - Flying service Dept?Civil Aviation Dept?Research Scientist?Statistical officer?

    Dec2013 
    Police inspector!!!

    Well, its just me...like to plan ahead..Time to remind myself, Seek God n His kingdom first before everything:) Still waiting for Him

  • Things that I learnt in this semi

    Haha...Facebook is evil...Recently, there are quite a few notes going on in FB.
    '25 things I learnt in this semi', some T/F questions n answers..haha..May be i should start as well:)
    Hopefully I would have time for evaluation~~haha...Just to think about what i have learnt this semi and how am i going to keep it up..well, not today...Exercise Phy exam is tmr!!!
    But one thing i read fr Suds' note is that
    I shouldnt worry about things I can control and I shouldnt worry about things I cant control

    Finished 3S1 exam this morning.Trust in the Lord!!! There's nothing much i can do anyway:) But thanks God, i wasnt nervous at all prior or during exams:) Having the peace of God is such a beautiful thing:)
